Be a part of the movement to protect and study wild orangutans in Borneo’s Gunung Palung.
Only wild orangutans have intact cultural knowledge of how to live in their forest, passed down through the generations, and to save them, we need to protect their habitat.
Hi I’m Cheryl Knott, orangutan researcher and conservationist. I started the Gunung Palung Orangutan Conservation Program 20 years ago and our staff of over forty people work hard every day in Indonesia to safeguard wild orangutans in and around Gunung Palung National Park. We’d love to share what we do with all of you! Join our Team Wild Orangutan.
Join our community of people who care about the future of orangutans in the wild, and the rich biodiversity of Borneo’s amazing rainforest.”

We work to protect orangutan populations and forest biodiversity in and around Gunung Palung, a key refuge in Indonesian Borneo.
I’ve been photographing and filming orangutans in the wild for 25 years. Now you’re invited to join me on this quest by becoming a member of “Team Wild Orangutan.” You’ll get updates from the field and a behind the scene looks into what it’s like to photograph wild orangutans.”
